Wayside Publishing
As the Marketing Communications Graphic Designer at Wayside Publishing, I have had the opportunity to fully design and create everything from social media campaigns to expansive product catalogs to print and digital advertising. While in the position, I have been responsible for the creation of assets and management of projects across multiple departments and am the primary person responsible for nearly all customer facing collateral. That circumstance has allowed for me to expand my skills in ways I had not been able to before and facilitate a cohesive brand image for the company at large.
World Languages Catalog
At Wayside Publishing, one of my main projects each year is the product catalog. The product catalog includes every book, print or digital, in the Wayside library and serves as the main touchpoint for potential customers to learn about the products on offer.
For 2024, I completely redesigned the product catalog, creating a unified design across the entire document, portraying a modern and clean feel.
The front cover features images from the four main languages in which Wayside sells products: German, Spanish, French, and Italian.
Each language has its own color to delineate the products, making it easier for customers to find what they need.
Ad Campaigns
Another part of my job is to create ad campaigns. The ads were to be placed in nationwide publications like The Language Educator and Language Magazine, as well as in regional education conference programs. The series I created was intended to be cohesive and also flexible. Able to be used as a general ad for all of Wayside but also adaptable to focus on specific products or services from Wayside like the core Spanish and German series’ that make up the most important parts of the business.




Sales Resources
Naturally, marketing works hand in glove with sales which translated to my creating a number of resources for the sales team to push Wayside products. Marketing and selling world language textbooks is challenging as there is an “adoptions” process for most states that differ in frequency, process, and scale. Thus necessitating specific collateral by state in many instances.
That included creating fact sheets that briefly outline different product lines for Account Managers to hand off to clients as well as other more tailored resources listing the Wayside products best suited for the state.




Conference Collateral
ACTFL is a nationwide education conference hosted in a different city each year and plays host to thousands of attendees. As such, those in the education industry try to make as big a splash as they can at ACTFL with special signage, giveaways and collateral which I had the opportunity to create for Wayside in 2023.
In part, I created retractable banners which were utilized in multiple places within the Wayside conference booth showcasing different product lines and initiatives. Bags for attendees are always a big hit and that was especially true with the language specific bags I put together with monuments from either Spanish, German, French, or Italian speaking countries. Not to be forgotten are giveaways and along with bags or product samples, I designed a mousepad following the same design motif.
